Classification of CNC lathe machine
CNC lathe machine is the abbreviation of digital program control lathe. It integrates the characteristics of universal lathe with good universality, precision lathe with high machining precision and special lathe with high machining efficiency. It is a CNC machine tool with the largest use and the widest coverage in China.
Classification of CNC lathes: CNC lathes can be divided into horizontal and vertical types. Horizontal lathe has horizontal guide rail and inclined guide rail. High grade CNC sleeper cars generally use inclined guide rails.
CNC lathes have a wide variety and different specifications, which can be classified according to the following methods.
Classification by basic types of machined parts
(1) Chuck type CNC lathe machine this kind of lathe has no tailstock and is suitable for turning disc (including stub shaft) parts. Most of the clamping methods are electric or hydraulic control, and most of the chuck structures have adjustable claws or non quenched claws (i.e. soft claws).

Classification by lathe spindle position
(1) Vertical CNC lathe Vertical NC lathe is called CNC vertical lathe for short. Its lathe spindle is perpendicular to the horizontal plane and a circular worktable with large diameter is used to clamp workpieces. This kind of machine tool is mainly used to process large and complex parts with large radial size and relatively small axial size.
(2) Horizontal NC lathe horizontal NC lathe is divided into NC horizontal guide rail horizontal lathe and NC inclined guide rail horizontal lathe. The inclined guide rail structure can make the lathe more rigid and easy to remove chips.
Classification by function
(1) The economical CNC lathe is a simple CNC lathe formed by the transformation of the feed system of the ordinary lathe with stepping motor and single chip microcomputer. The cost is low, but the degree of automation and function are poor, and the turning accuracy is not high. It is suitable for the turning of rotary parts with low requirements.
(2) According to the turning requirements, the ordinary NC lathe is specially designed in structure and equipped with a general NC system. The CNC system has strong function, high automation and machining accuracy. It is suitable for the turning of general rotating parts. This CNC lathe can control two coordinate axes at the same time, namely X axis and Z axis.
(3) The turning center adds c-axis and power head on the basis of ordinary NC lathe. The more advanced NC lathe is equipped with tool magazine, which can control the three coordinate axes of X, Z and C. the linkage control axis can be (x, z), (x, c) or (Z, c). Due to the addition of c-axis and milling power head, the processing function of this NC lathe is greatly enhanced. In addition to general turning, it can carry out radial and axial milling, surface milling, drilling of holes and radial holes whose center line is not in the rotation center of parts.
Classified by the number of tool holders.
(1) Single turret CNC lathe CNC lathes are generally equipped with various forms of single turret, such as four station horizontal indexing turret or multi station turret automatic indexing turret. This lathe is controlled by two coordinates.
(2) Double turret CNC lathe the double turret configuration of this kind of lathe is distributed in parallel or perpendicular to each other. Most of the double turret sleeper cars use inclined guide rails. This kind of lathe is controlled by 4 coordinates.
